Rawtenstall

Civic Pride Rossendale started in Rawtenstall in 2000 but since then, independent groups have been formed in several other towns and villages in the borough.  In 2016 we won Britain in Bloom awards for the Best Newcomer and Silver Gilt in the Urban Community category.  Indeed we were one of only three entries to win two prizes!

Funding has come mainly from grants, the largest being £10,000 awarded from Tesco’s ‘Bags of Help’ scheme which paid for the wonderful new garden outside St Mary’s Chambers which provides such a stunning entrance to the town.

However, as the emphasis changes from grants to sponsorship we’re actively seeking companies with a local presence to support us.  When asked why they’d sponsored us, one recent benefactor said  ‘…because we don’t want to be left out’!  Contact us now to associate your company with our extremely successful organisation.

We actively encourage other groups to join us if they’d like to help with the maintenance of these community gardens.  Equally, we can probably provide advice and expertise to anyone wishing to create community gardens in their area.
