In 2018 the Mytholme Playgound was created and a year later we started a new group to resurrect and then maintain the garden which had been so sadly neglected.
For some years work has been undertaken by dedicated workers around the Mill End area (the Heys, Turnpike, Booth Road and Burnley Road East). Not only has the litter been cleared but the old setted track through the Heys, the steps leading up to it and the footpath on Turnpike have received attention. Years of rotting foliage and weeds were cleared and are now receiving the same treatment again, transforming them from neglected eyesores to areas to be proud of.
The jewel in Waterfoot’s crown is the work a small team are undertaking in the Memorial Gardens. Weeding, litter picking, pruning, planting, balsam bashing, returning it to its former glory with a few modern additions!
The council have repainted the bus shelter, mown the grass, cut the hedges and removed bags and bags of waste generated by our volunteers work, so thank you them as well!
In 2019 we entered it for the RHS Its Your Neighbourhood competition where it received a Thriving Award. Quite an achievement for just three dedicated ladies!
