The NATIONAL Britain in Bloom Competition will be judged on the morning of Thursday 3rd of August 2023
The Britain in Bloom judging not only considers the gardens that are displayed on the day, they also judge us on our community engagement and how we are tackling environmental issues.
We already work alongside a number of different communities – local businesses, our local council, churches, schools, scout and youth groups. We even talk to the shoppers at our local supermarkets about how they can be part of the work we do… from planting a few sunflowers, painting pots, decorating the shop windows, painting railings, and entering our photographic & colouring competitions!
Environmental issues have always been very important to us, and we are aware of them in our work. We plant a lot of perennial plants, choose plants that are better for wildlife and use peat free soil to name but a few… We are also increasing the diversity of plants in our area whilst creating alternative water sources. We have a beehive, and have installed lots of bird boxes, bat boxes and bug hotels locally too!
