A Witterings Supplementary

Group Gardening

Well, it seems that the lockdown is being eased and as a result we are resuming group sessions but with a maximum of 6 people, socially distanced.

These will be led by Anne and are as follows:
Tuesday, 2nd June – 10-12 – In-Bound Layby – Weeding and pruning and general tidy of garden

Wednesday, 3rd June – 10-12 – Out-Bound Layby – Weeding and pruning and general tidy of garden.

Thursday, 4th June – 10-12 – Thursday Mini Crew – Haslingden Road Garden – Weeding and pruning and general tidy of garden.

Sunday, 7th June – 10-12 – 1st Sunday of the Month Mini Group – Embankment

To quote Anne: ‘Each session is limited to a total of 6 people, following the latest Government guidelines, and social distancing must be followed at all times. If you are interested in joining in with one of the sessions then please contact me on [email protected] to reserve your place, or phone 01706 551 123. You must book in advance, because we cannot have more than 6 people working on the garden.

You need to bring your own tools, as we cannot share them, and I would recommend sun protection, a sun hat and water to drink. It is important to keep hydrated in all this heat. If you could bring an extra bottle of water to water a few wilting plants, then that would be fantastic!!! If you are keen to help, but do not have your own tools, then please let me know, and I’ll sort some tools out for you to use.’

Find Yourself in a Garden
Helen will be issuing her tenth ‘Find Yourself in a Garden’ gardening tips shortly but will be taking a break from it after that. It’s been very well received but as we start to move back to normal, she feels it’s time to hang up her pen in favour of a trowel!

McDonalds
Yes, they’re re-opening for drive through takeaways from next Wednesday from 11am to 10pm. The premises will be locked so no toilet facilities which may be a problem for those in the anticipated lengthy queues! Rawtenstall wiil likely be in grid lock for a few days, if the experience of other branches is anything to go by. It’s worth noting that when when the branch was closed, the quiet acceptance from their ‘delightful’ customers was commented upon by their management.

Helen will return on Monday for the Witterings, you’ll be pleased to hear!
