The last, the final Wittering

Dear Chrimbo-Folk,
Well thank the Lord that’s over for another 360 days – well, ’til next August when the Christmas adverts start … (in fact, you can ignore the implied grumps – there were lots of truly delightful events – and the Civic Pride Rossendale Christmas Bash on 19th Dec was one of ’em!). So, now onwards ‘n’ upwards into 2020’s Rossendale-beautifying, eh??
Hope this doesn’t confuse, but it’s an early Witter delivery this Monday cos we’re all off to the Panto this afternoon (oh no you’re not ….)
So, for the last, the final time in 2019 …..
Tuesday 31st 11pm – will you be tucked up in bed ‘n’ fast asleep, ready for …..(see next item)
Weds 1st Jan 10.30am GREAT RAWTENSTALL CLEAR-UP!! Meet on Town Square – we’ll have spare litterpickers if yours is still somewhere under the Christmas Tree ; and we’re possibly going for a social coffee afterwards. Whadda way to start 2020.
Thurs 2nd Jan 10am meet on Calder Rd (top of Hollin Lane-ish). Apart from the New Year’s Day Litterpick can there be a better way of starting 2020?? Tidying, pruning, cutting back, trimming (trimming the waistline, that is …).
Sun 5th Jan – yo, it’s the first-Sunday-Of-The-Month campaign! Meet 10am on Phipps Car Park (Phipps is between Bank St and St Mary’s Way, near the market-end of Bank St). It needs a jolly good sweep, tidy, trim (again), cut back – something we can’t usually do because the area’s full of – umm – parked cars all getting in the way. 10am on a Sunday it’ll be empty of cars today. Won’t it?? Come, join this unique
opportunity!
Tues 7th Jan probable meet 10am on Town Square : take down and remove our Christmas tree from the Town Square – details will be confirmed in next week’s Witter. Big job so please help for an hour if you can.

(1) Re 19/12/19 event (see above) thank you again to Lynn for organising the whole marvellous thing!

It’s on Facebook ; and if you’re not on that, follow this – https://www.rossendalenews.org.uk/new-civic-pride-blog-two-items-a-day-keeps-the-litter-at-bay/ It’s about getting local folk who ain’t Civic Pride Rossendale to pick up two – just two (to start with) – items of litter a day. Just imagine the possibilities!!
(3) 2019 was some year for us. More awards and recognition than we’ve ever had before (‘n’ that’s saying something!) ; more gardens tended than ever before ; the litter scourge being beaten ; 3 more new groups started. So ……. next item …..
(4)HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE – please help us to make it beautiful for our communities, for our towns, for where we live, for the place we love!

Go on, let’s gettout there!

Chris PS is 2020 actually the start of a new decade??
