Storm Brendan Witterings

Dear Windblown Readers,

Storm Brendan’s currently wafting across t’Rossie Valley sending everyone scurrying for shelter – apart, of course, from our crazy Lone Ranger Litterpickers. This is true (might they inspire you to gird your loins, brave the elements and gettout there ….??)

Anyhow, to proceed with the customary vital literary masterpiece :-
Tues 14th Jan 9am meet Jubilee Gardens, Crawshawbooth, commencing with some prep work in the gardens and finishing with a village litterpick. If you turn up & can’t see any CPR Hi-Viz jackets ring Elaine – she’ll tell you where they’ve got to! 07484 664466. It’s such a mathematically pure number it just makes you want to ring it.
Thurs 16th 10am Crazy Thursday Crew meet on the Town Square. We’ve been assured the next phase of building work is imminent so we’re rescuing our plants which’ll otherwise fall victim to navvies’ spades. (is the term “navvy” still appropriate??). P.S. last week’s remarkable work on Calder Rd was fuelled by slices of Aunty Lynn’s Christmas cake, 2 slices of which took us over the drink-drive limit, a uniquely delicious way to achieve that status!!
Fri 17th 8pm @ Hop After a mini-revival of CPR’s irregular social gathering last week, we’re trying it again this week. A CPR Hi-Viz will be – errmm – visible, so new guys can spot us.
Mon 20th 10am maybe, just maybe, the TMG crew are out again ….
Mon 20th 7.30pm one of the social events of the year, ’tis Bacup Pride’s AGM. Venue Bacup Natural History Museum, 24 Yorkshire St OL13 9AE. Hope it goes well, BP brothers ‘n’ sisters!
Other so-vital info just for you :
(1) We’re currently amidst a series of meets with RBC managers to improve communication and develop a symbiotic relationship. Just so you’re aware, everyone, that does not make us substitutes or apologists for RBC. When we think they get it wrong, we say so! Equally, we are genuinely pleased with their supportive attitude towards CPR and efforts to help our volunteers’ work.
(2) Well done Liz on untangling the ghastly weed problem on Edenfield’s famous finger-post flowerbeds. Her planting will begin to show through as Spring develops. You want to help her in Edenfield? Let us know, via [email protected]

Having read all that lot, you’re probably now soundly asleep.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz!!

Chris
