Having commented many times on the bare and drab area in front of Boots the chemist in Rawtenstall town centre, we decided to do something about it.
It is a large paved space so we thought we needed some large planters which have been planted with a selection of perennials, bulbs and annuals. Tulips, begonias, winter pansies and hanging baskets provide colour throughout the seasons. Passersby provide plenty of positive feedback when we are sweeping up leaves or weeding the planters. We have arranged for the installation of a couple of benches and these are often occupied by people who can rest for a while, chat with friends and enjoy the view in this now lovely colourful area.
