Civic Pride Rossendale started in Rawtenstall in 2000 and traditionally the majority of our volunteers came from the town.  Since then groups have been formed in other towns and villages in the borough but only the Rawtenstall team have expanded into gardening in a big way.  perrenials 4Indeed in 2016 they won Britain in Bloom awards for the Best Newcomer and Silver Gilt in the Urban Community category.  Indeed we were one of only three entries to win two prizes!

Funding has come mainly from grants in the past including  £10,000 awarded from Tesco’s ‘Bags of Help’ scheme which paid for the wonderful new garden outside St May’s Chambers which provides such a stunning entrance to the town.

However, as the emphasis changes from grants to sponsorship we’re actively seeking companies with a local presence to support us.  When asked why they’d sponsored us, one recent benefactor said  ‘…because we don’t want to be left out’!  Do you?  As we say: Civic Pride works – for you, your family, your business!  So contact us now to associate your company with our extremely successful organisation.

We actively encourage other groups to contact us if they’d like to help with the maintenance of these community gardens.  Equally, we can probably provide advice and expertise to anyone wishing to create community gardens in their area.
