Restoring derelict public gardens, planning, creating new ones and maintaining them for the benefit of local residents, businesses and visitors alike are the primary goals of our enthusiastic gardening team.
The long hot summer of 2018 was welcomed by many but spare a thought for our dedicated watering team who were out 2 or 3 times a week on 2 hour shifts keeping the planting alive. We even started drawing water straight out of the rivers to save precious mains supplies!
However, there’s always a lot to do and the more help we get, the better the end result! Whether you’re an absolute novice, a green fingered enthusiast or a seasoned professional we need you!
Imagine for a moment please –
• See those beautiful flowers – you planted those in Spring
• You were watering those stunning barrier baskets yesterday
• You did a great job helping design the flower bed
• Mind you, preparing the ground was hard work
How nice that was. Another grateful resident just stopped to offer their heartfelt thanks for what you’re doing. It warms the cockles of your heart doesn’t it.
Individuals young and old, Explorer Scouts, youth clubs, schools, Brownies, Girl Guides, Duke of Edinburgh Award participants, church groups, Rotary Club – you’re all welcome to join us. As any gardener knows, our work is never done and so we need your help please for the benefit of the whole community.
